Flow

~Flow is a tide-mill - a floating building on the River Tyne that generates its own power using a tidal water wheel (in collaboration with Ed Carter and The Owl Project).

The installation attracted 40,000 visitors on board over the summer of 2012. It was commissioned by the UK Arts Council as part of Artists Taking the Lead, a series of large-scale public art projects celebrating the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The tide mill houses a series of wooden musical machines powered by a 4.5m waterwheel, which responds the ebb and flow of the river.
